Soft Calf Leather Our 'Black Garment' is a
nice, chrome-tanned calf leather, milled to soften it up, struck through
with a true black dye.
Sides run about 16-17 sq
ft on average, and have a thickness of 3.5 oz (1.4mm). Sides will
have at least one hole in them someplace.
Very soft - in the photo
on the left that crumpled up thing next to the hides is one hide all scrunched
up and tossed on the table.
Very fine texture on the
surface. Great for making vests, pants, or any other garment sort
of thing you want to make but don't want anyone to know about.

- these are 2 oz (1/32 of an inch or 0.8mm) sheep hides, each measuring

This is a nice, thin leather

Hides will show natural
skin imperfections - nothing has been done to try to hide blemishes; this

Antique Walnut Brown
Smooth Cowhide Sides, 3.25 oz Nice and smooth, full finish
cowhide sides are from USA cattle. Tanned and finished in the USA,
Sides average about 21 sq
ft of surface area, and have a mellow temper (soft).
Nice walnut brown color
that's very smooth and consistent across each hide - called 'Antique' by
the tanery because the surface has a hand-rubbed apperance.
Sides will have a brand
on may have a small hole someplace, but over 90% of each side is useable
leather.

BRASIL NUT BROWN OIL-TANNED
COWHIDE SIDES Very thin and soft These oil-tanned cowhide
sides are very soft and thin (2-2.25 oz, which is about the same as 1 millimeter)
so this is great stuff
for making garments.
Also good as a lining leather or any other use that requires a natural,
rustic looking leather that's thin and soft.
These sides (a 'side' is
half of a full cowhide), run about 18-20 sq ft of surface area each.
Mid-brownish color is called
Brasil Nut by the tannery. OK, fine. The surface of this leather
is all natural - no grain corrections or smoothing
have been used in producing
this leather, so it shows where the steer rubbed up against a tree or where
a bee stung it or whatever.
Most of these sides also
have a ranch brand on them.

Shimmery Metallic Sides Nice
shipments of beautiful cowhide sides in five colors, all sort of metallic
shimmery. The hot pink and gold ones look very metallic.

British Tan, Butterscotch, and Espresso are just slightly metallic.

Small Tannery Sample Swatches Group of 50 tannery sample
panels, and they're all nice leathers, ranging from thin, top grain garment-grade
sheepskin to mid-weight cowhide leathers.
The tannery used these to
show their customers what sorts fo leathers they could produce.
They all have a product
name and number gold foil embossed into them, as you can see in the photos.

mixture of colors - earth tones, blues, whites, reds, whatever the crew
tosses into each bag.

any of these samples - these are just samples left over from an old tannery

are sets of three leather panels from one of the USA's best tanners.
These panels run between
1 and 2 sq ft of surface area, drum dyed and embossed with a haircell (very
fine grain) texture. Regular temper - not too soft, not too stiff.

VERY
THIN DEER SKIVERS Thin White Tail Deer
Hides These are skivers that were
cut from chrome tanned white tail deer hides
This is USA deer leather.
Chrome tanned, dyed white
(dye penetrates all the way through the leather),
but they look a little off-white
to very light grayish in color.
The leather thickness ranges
from 1 to 3 oz (1/64" to a little under 1/16 of an inch).
Very, very soft. How
soft? Like an old t-shirt that you can't throw away because
it still has that stain
on it from that Kansas concert at the Hollywood Sportatorium. It's
special.
