A smaller-than-average trunk
that was made prior to the Civil War, we believe. It's covered in
leather; the
leather has been inscribed
with geometric designs. Has several slats on the outside, and the
end of each
slat was wrapped in thin
brass sheeting. We polished up the brass a bit, just to show it off.
Has our replacement stitched
leather handles on each end, and a good stay to hold up the lid.
The old leather gets brittle
over the years; some of it is missing, as you can see in the photos.
Brass lock plate, no key.
This trunk measures 30 inches long by 16 inches wide, and it's 16" tall.
