Zinc-clad packing trunk from
the late 1800s was never intended to be showy - it was supposed to be sturdy.
This style of trunk was
used to get your stuff from point A to point B safely. Heavy boards
were used to build the basic
trunk, and then sheets of zinc were nailed to the outside to add strength.
The silver color is the
zinc - it's not paint.
The outside is clean
and smooth, protected with several coats of tung oil.
Measures 32 inches wide
by 19 inches front to back, and stands 22 inches tall at the peak of the
rounded top.
Handles are our Made-in-Maine
replacements, made from harness leather.
The original lock is still
attached, and it works just fine with the included key.
The inside is sanded smooth
and stained, ready for storing stuff.

send the darned thing right back for a refund. The return shipping is your
expense. It's a simple method of conducting commerce over the web,
but it has worked successfully
for us for over a decade. A note on personal checks - we don't mind
them a bit. We aren't one of those "hold your check for two weeks"
joints.
