This trunk has been consigned to us by Maine craftsman Norm Davidson.
This is a small brass button
trunk, but it travels under several aliases.
Also known as a Civil War
trunk, Saratoga trunk, Jenny Lind trunk, Loaf of Bread trunk, and probably
a few more names.
Probably made prior to the
Civil War, and in very good condition, although Norm has done some major
rebuilding.
Norm added several coats
of tung oil to the trunk for protection, and the metal parts have been
painted black because that's Norm's thing.
Norm built a new tray for
the inside from scratch - it's not original.
The lockplate is not original
either - and there are no keys.
Handy storage compartment
in the lid for smaller items like gloves, Hot Wheels cars, salt and pepper
shakers, batteries, spare change, and the like.
Has Brettuns Village stitched
leather handles on each end.
Measures 28 inches long
by 16 inches wide, and is 15 inches tall.

expense. It's a simple method of conducting commerce over the web,
but it has worked successfully for us for over a decade.

- we don't mind them a bit. We aren't one of those "hold your check
for two weeks" joints. We try to ship as soon as possible.
