Old Stock Raised Hinges These are original 1930s
hinges that we purchased as part of an inventory close-out. New old
stock, so these will be a little grimy,
may have some surface rust,
but are in good condition for their age. Look right at home on your
trunk or case.
Old hinges are brass-plated
steel measuring 5.5 inches long total length, 1 and 1/8" inch wide.
These can be used on trunks or suitcases.
The hinges have rounded
'feet' on each end to help your suitcase stand up correctly, or ignore
the feet and use them on the back of a trunk.
Raised edges keep the body
of this hinge elevated about 1/8th of an inch from the trunk body.
Very well made, original hinges from the 1930s, not reproductions.

Finish
Solid Brass Hinges These are hefty hinges made
overseas (probably India), cast from solid brass. They have a sturdy
pin through the hinge point, but you'll notice that the maker had a drinking
problem -
the hinges are just slightly
off-kilter. Still, they look great and work very well, and for most
trunks or lidded boxes they work just fine. Note that these are offset
hinges - see the
picture that says 'Offset
by 1/2"'? Well, that's just what it means. The upper half of
the hinge steps back 1/2" from the hing point, and then it goes up from
there.
Overall dimensions of these
hinges are 1-7/8" wide by 3-3/8" long, with 6 holes for screws or nails.
The metal is about 1/8" of an inch thick - built to last a long time.

TRUNK
LID DUST BANDING Steel dust banding is typically
used around the bottom edge of the trunk lid, helps to keep dust out of
the trunk. It can also be used as strapping to run across the lid
or up the front of the trunk.
Heck, it's up to you what
you do with it, we just sell it by the running foot. This banding
is black steel, fairly easy to bend around corners, and is 3/4 of an inch
wide.
Shipping and handling is
included in the prices below, at least for destinations in the USA.
This is not the same thing as the thin metal that runs up the corners of
your trunk -
this only is used on the
lid or face of most trunks. If you need thin metal to replace the
old stuff on the corners of your trunk we recommend you take a look at
roof flashing metal sheet that's available at your local hardware store.
You can get it in brass
and sometimes in colors, 4" wide, on rolls, and buy it by the foot.
Again, we DO NOT sell that type of metal for the corners of your trunk.
This edge banding is sold
by the running foot - we do not cut it to exact dimensions. Need
mulltiple pieces? Just add up the total length and purchase that
amount, please.
This metal we sell is for
the bottom edge of the trunk lid only.
Please measure carefully
- Dust Banding MAY NOT BE RETURNED 34EB $2.00 per foot
Please remember that our
minimum order size is $5
We also have edge banding
in 1.25" width. Here's a picture of both: Same sturdy steel dust banding,
this one is just wider. 1.25" wide, sold by the foot, with USA shipping
included in the price.
We call this EB125F.
This is not the same thing as the thin metal that runs up the corners of
your trunk - this only is used on the lid or face of most trunks.
