TRUNK HINGES AND EDGE BANDING

Old Stock Strap Hinges
These are hinges from the 1960s that sat around in a warehouse and got a little bit corroded.  See photos, please.

Old hinges are nickel-plated steel measuring 7-3/4 inches long total length, 1-1/4" inch wide.
Very well made, original hinges from the 1960s, not reproductions.  They're a little tight at first, but bend more easily after a few gyrations.

Old Stock Raised Hinges
These are original 1930s hinges that we purchased as part of an inventory close-out.  New old stock, so these will be a little grimy,
may have some surface rust, but are in good condition for their age.  Look right at home on your trunk or case.

Old hinges are brass-plated steel measuring 5.5 inches long total length, 1 and 1/8" inch wide.  These can be used on trunks or suitcases.
The hinges have rounded 'feet' on each end to help your suitcase stand up correctly, or ignore the feet and use them on the back of a trunk.
Raised edges keep the body of this hinge elevated about 1/8th of an inch from the trunk body.  Very well made, original hinges from the 1930s, not reproductions.

Nickel-Plated or Brass Plated Old Stock Foot Hinges
Original old stock hinges from the 1930s, never been used

These hinges work well on brief cases, suitcases, and small trunks, which is how they were being used in the factory where we bought them.
Measuring 3.25 inches long by 1.125 (1 and 1/8) inches wide, and they have a 'bump' on them that serves as a foot for the case when stood on end.
Made in the 1930s, original old stock.  These are not reproductions.  Available in a limited supply and when they're gone they're gone.
Choose nickel or brass plated, sold by the pair for $8.00, which includes postage to any USA location.

Stop Hinges

Brass-plated steel or black hinges will open up about 90 degrees and then they stop right there.
Best used on trunks that are 25 inches wide or smaller - so there's not too much weight in the lid.
These are 3-1/4" long by 1-1/2" wide.  Choose brass-plated steel or black anodized steel.

Solid Brass Hinges

These are hefty hinges made overseas (probably India), cast from solid brass.  They have a sturdy pin through the hinge point, but you'll notice that the maker had a drinking problem -
the hinges are just slightly off-kilter.  Still, they look great and work very well, and for most trunks or lidded boxes they work just fine.  Note that these are offset hinges - see the
picture that says 'Offset by 1/2"'?  Well, that's just what it means.  The upper half of the hinge steps back 1/2" from the hing point, and then it goes up from there.
Overall dimensions of these hinges are 1-7/8" wide by 3-3/8" long, with 6 holes for screws or nails.  The metal is about 1/8" of an inch thick - built to last a long time.

LEATHER HINGES
Great for some older boxes

Sometimes you just flat out don't want a big metal hinge on a primitive box, so we have these pieces of leather that you can use instead.  Nail one end to the top of your box,
the other end to the bottom, as if you really needed us to tell you that.  You're smart.  You get it.  What you get here is a pair of rectangles,
each measuring about an inch wide by 2 and 3/8" long, die cut from a single layer of 8 oz cowhide.
