Old Stock Raised Hinges
These are original 1930s hinges that we purchased as part of an inventory close-out.  New old stock, so these will be a little grimy, may have some surface rust, but are in good condition for their age.  Look right at home on your trunk or case.

Old hinges are brass-plated steel measuring 5.5 inches long total length, 1 and 1/8" inch wide.  These can be used on trunks or suitcases.  The hinges have rounded 'feet' on each end to help your suitcase stand up correctly, or ignore the feet and use them on the back of a trunk.  Raised edges keep the body of this hinge elevated about 1/8th of an inch from the trunk body.  Very well made, original hinges from the 1930s, not reproductions.

Seymour Hinges, Original Old Stock from the 1930s

Old stock hinges made by Seymour Co. for use on smaller trunks and cases.  These are brass plated steel and require 5 nails to attach.  We sell them in pairs.  Each hinge is 3.25" long overall by 7/8" wide.  The longer end is 2.5" long, the other end is about 15/16" long.  Sturdy hinges that have a built in 'stop' at 90 degrees, so the lid can't go any further than that.

Nickel-Plated or Brass Plated Old Stock Foot Hinges
Original old stock hinges from the 1930s, never been used

These hinges work well on brief cases, suitcases, and small trunks, which is how they were being used in the factory where we bought them.  Measuring 3.25 inches long by 1.125 (1 and 1/8) inches wide, and they have a 'bump' on them that serves as a foot for the case when stood on end.  Made in the 1930s, original old stock.  These are not reproductions.  Available in a limited supply and when they're gone they're gone.  Choose nickel or brass plated, sold by the pair for $8.00, which includes postage to any USA location.

Small Hinges

Small brass-plated steel hinges are useful for the thin wood doors on the underside of the lids of many trunks, or for small boxes.
These are 1-5/8" long by 1-5/16" wide.
Small Hinges $5 per pair

Butterfly Hinges

Brass-plated steel hinges with the characteristic style of late 1800 cabinet makers.  Maybe.
These are 3-3/16" long by 1-7/8" wide.
Butterfly Hinges $6 per pair

Stop Hinges

Brass-plated steel hinges will open up about 90 degrees and then they stop right there.
Best used on trunks that are 25 inches wide or smaller - so there's not too much weight in the lid.
These are 3-1/4" long by 1-1/2" wide.
Stop Hinges $6 per pair

Ridged Hinges
Original Old Stock from the 1920s

These old bruched nickel hinges have a pattern of ridges stamped into them; they look pretty nice, we think.  Overall dimensions are 1 and 7/8" by 1 and 3/4".  Heavy duty, made the old fashioned way in the 1920s, right here in the USA.  Customers tell us these look right at home on old classic guitar cases and other musical instrument cases.  Dig that, Mr. Hendrix.

Solid Brass Hinges

These are hefty hinges made overseas (probably India), cast from solid brass.  They have a sturdy pin through the hinge point, but you'll notice that the maker had a drinking problem - the hinges are just slightly off-kilter.  Still, they look great and work very well, and for most trunks or lidded boxes they work just fine.  Note that these are offset hinges - see the picture that says 'Offset by 1/2"'?  Well, that's just what it means.  The upper half of the hinge steps back 1/2" from the hing point, and then it goes up from there.  Overall dimensions of these hinges are 1-7/8" wide by 3-3/8" long, with 6 holes for screws or nails.  The metal is about 1/8" of an inch thick - built to last a long time.

LEATHER HINGES
Great for some older boxes

Sometimes you just flat out don't want a big metal hinge on a primitive box, so we have these pieces of leather that you can use instead.  Nail one end to the top of your box, the other end to the bottom, as if you really needed us to tell you that.  You're smart.  You get it.  What you get here is a pair of rectangles, each measuring about an inch wide by 2 and 3/8" long, die cut from a single layer of 8 oz cowhide.

TRUNK LID DUST BANDING

Edge banding metal, sold by the foot3/4 inch wide
Steel dust banding is typically used around the bottom edge of the trunk lid, helps to keep dust out of the trunk.  It can also be used as strapping to run across the lid or up the front of the trunk.  Heck, it's up to you what you do with it, we just sell it by the foot.  This banding is black steel, fairly easy to bend around corners, and is 3/4 of an inch wide.  We have this priced at $1.25 per foot, shipping and handling are included, at least for destinations in the USA.  Stock number EB075F.  This is not the same thing as the thin metal that runs up the corners of your trunk - this only is used on the lid or face of most trunks.  If you need thin metal to replace the old stuff on the corners of your trunk we recommend you take a look at roof flashing metal sheet that's available at your local hardware store.  You can get it in brass and sometimes in colors, 4" wide, on rolls, and buy it by the foot.  Again, we DO NOT sell that type of metal for the corners of your trunk.  This metal we sell is for the bottom edge of the trunk lid only.
Please measure carefully - Dust Banding MAY NOT BE RETURNED because we cut it to the custom length you request.

We also have edge banding in 1.25" width.  Here's a picture of both:

Same sturdy steel dust banding, this one is just wider.  1.25" wide, sold by the foot, with USA shipping included in the price.
We call this EB125F and it's $1.50 per foot.  This is not the same thing as the thin metal that runs up the corners of your trunk - this only is used on the lid or face of most trunks.
