LID
STAYS Lid stays are very handy
- they hold the lid open for you, and they keep the lid from flopping over
backwards, yanking the hinges right out of the back of the trunk
and launching nails across
the room to hit Aunt Marge in the left eye which was her good eye until
today so now she's got to move into your house
so you can take care of
her every need until she perishes at the ripe old age of 104 including
a nice tribute from Willard Scott. Avoid the whole mess by using
a lid stay - get your life back.

The Most Common Lid Stay of All Stay1 Every trunk needs one of
these for safety, convenience, and for good care of the trunk. These
hold the lid up while you dig around for that old college sweater that
you can't fit in anyway.
The longer end attaches
to the base of the trunk, the shorter end, well, you can figure that out
I'll bet. Takes two nails to attach.
These can protect little
fingers to some extent, and help your trunk to last longer, rather than
taking a beating every time the lid slams down.
These have a hole spacing
of 6.25". The hole spacing is the distance between nails, which you
probably figured out on your own.
These are the most common
size of stay to use on a trunk, and they work on trunk both large and small.
Medium too, by the way.
These stays are priced at
$5.00 each, which includes postage over to your place. Brass or Nickel
plated steel. Your choice.

the lid of your trunk is quite heavy, or for any large size trunk.
Requires two nails to attach to your trunk.

Original Old Stock 1930s Large Scissor Lid Stays
for Trunks, Boxes, Etc.
Large, nickel-plated steel
lid stays work well on larger suitcases, boxes, and trunks. These
lock lightly into position with a small ball bearing - they are not technically
'locked' into position but hold well.
The lid will still come
down if pushed, so please don't think these are just the thing to protect
the fingers of your future virtuoso when he gets the notion to slam the
lid of his toybox.
Distance between nail holes
is 6 and 5/8 inches when opened fully. These were made in the 1930s
and are original old stock, never used.
Price includes shipping
to any USA location.

Large Lid Prop Our Stay7 is a long stay
made to attach to the underside of a box lid and the left inside wall of
the box itself.

up like most of our lid stays; rather, it just acts like a cable (almost)
to
keep the lid from flopping
over backwards. Requires 4 nails or screws to attach (not included).
Overall length is 11 inches,
with each 'leg' measuring 5-1/4". Nickel finish only.

Tray Bracket for the Inside Lid of
Your Trunk Some trunks have a tray
inside that can swivel upwards into the lid when the tray is open.
These trunks will have a
piece of metal on one side of the tray or the other. and that
piece of metal is meant
to be caught on a bracket or catch that looks like this.
These are old original tray
brackets, from the late 1800s. Just spares that we found in trunks
that no longer had a tray.
They mount with a single
nail and swivel loosely. About 4-1/4" long overall, and about 1/16"
thick. Nickeled steel.
Tray Bracket $8 each,
USA shipping included
