LID LIFTERS AND LID STAYS

LID LIFTERS - LEATHER OR BRASS
Attach one of these to the front of the lid on your trunk; makes it easier to lift it up.  All of our lifters are based on original parts
and our leather lid lifters are available in medium brown, dark brown, or black.

Large Lifters

Attaches to your trunk's lid with two nails, mount it with the 'ears' pointing up or down, your choice.
Lasts longer if you point em down, so the leather doesn't get bent to heck everytime you go rummaging around for something.
Lifters are stitched from layers of thick cowhide, made to last.  Measurements overall are pretty close to 4 inches wide by 3 inches tall.
Medium brown, dark brown, or black.  Priced at $7 each, postage included for locations in the USA.

LID STAYS

Lid stays are very handy - they hold the lid open for you, and they keep the lid from flopping over backwards, yanking the hinges right out of the back of the trunk
and launching nails across the room to hit Aunt Marge in the left eye which was her good eye until today so now she's got to move into your house
so you can take care of her every need until she perishes at the ripe old age of 104 including a nice tribute from Willard Scott.  Avoid the whole mess by using a lid stay - get your life back.

The Most Common Lid Stay of All

Every trunk needs one of these for safety, convenience, and for good care of the trunk.  These hold the lid up while you dig around for that old college sweater that you can't fit in anyway.
The longer end attaches to the base of the trunk, the shorter end, well, you can figure that out I'll bet.  Takes two nails to attach.
These can protect little fingers to some extent, and help your trunk to last longer, rather than taking a beating every time the lid slams down.
These have a hole spacing of 6.25".  The hole spacing is the distance between nails, which you probably figured out on your own.
These are the most common size of stay to use on a trunk, and they work on trunk both large and small.  Medium too, by the way.
These stays are priced at $5.00 each, which includes postage over to your place.  Brass or Nickel plated steel.  Your choice.

Giant Lid Stays for Large Trunks

These are the big fellas - about 11 inches long overall and just about 10 inches between the nail holes.  Made of plain steel, riveted and punched to duplicate an original style of large lid stay.
This is the one to use if the lid of your trunk is quite heavy, or for any large size trunk.  Requires two nails to attach to your trunk.
When you mount this, prop the lid up so it's tilted just slightly toward the front of the trunk - not straight up at a 90-degree angle.
Tilting it forward just a bit takes a lot of the weight of the lid off the hinges.  You can do this - no problem.  Piece of cake.  Standing on your head.

Original Old Stock 1930s
Large Scissor Lid Stays for Trunks, Boxes, Etc.

Large, nickel-plated steel lid stays work well on larger suitcases, boxes, and trunks.  These lock lightly into position with a small ball bearing - they are not technically 'locked' into position but hold well.
The lid will still come down if pushed, so please don't think these are just the thing to protect the fingers of your future virtuoso when he gets the notion to slam the lid of his toybox.
Distance between nail holes is 6 and 5/8 inches when opened fully.  These were made in the 1930s and are original old stock, never used.
Price includes shipping to any USA location.
Stay4  $6 each

Large Lid Prop

Our Stay7 is a long stay made to attach to the underside of a box lid and the left inside wall of the box itself.
It doesn't prop the lid up like most of our lid stays; rather, it just acts like a cable (almost) to
keep the lid from flopping over backwards.  Requires 4 nails or screws to attach (not included).
Overall length is 11 inches, with each 'leg' measuring 5-1/4".  Nickel finish only.
Stay 7  $10 each, USA shipping included

Tray Bracket for the Inside Lid of Your Trunk

Some trunks have a tray inside that can swivel upwards into the lid when the tray is open.
These trunks will have a piece of metal on one side of the tray or the other. and that
piece of metal is meant to be caught on a bracket or catch that looks like this.
These are old original tray brackets, from the late 1800s.  Just spares that we found in trunks that no longer had a tray.
They mount with a single nail and swivel loosely.  About 4-1/4" long overall, and about 1/16" thick.  Nickeled steel.
Tray Bracket  $8 each, USA shipping included
