TRUNK NAILS AND TACKS

BRASS and STEEL DECORATIVE PIECES

Square Shank Trunk Nails:  Also known as cut nails or clinch nails.  We sell four sizes of brass-plated steel trunk nails and three sizes of plain steel cut nails,
all made one at a time on an old-fashioned cut nail press.  The heads on all of these are just a hair larger than 1/4 of an inch (9/32").
These are easy to work with as the steel is soft enough to bend easily when using your nailing heel.
Priced according to the descriptions below, all prices include shipping for destinations in the USA.

Copper Nails, 1" Long

Copper nails were used on certain types of trunks and may be just the thing you need to complete your accurate restoration or reproduction project.
These nails are one inch long and have a head diameter of 9/32" (just over a quarter of an inch).  Top of the nail head is flat.
Made from solid copper, which is a very soft metal, so these don't drive well through hardwoods.  Clinch over easily inside your trunk.
Copper 1" nails, sold in packs of 20, $2.50/pack, USA shipping included
Please don't forget that we have a $5 order minimum!

Escutcheon Pins
Brass or Nickel

Brass or Nickel escutcheon pins are not just difficult to pronounce, they're handy for attaching small parts to trunks or anything else made of wood.
We sell these in packs of 20, three different sizes in brass plated steel, one size only in nickel plated steel, for $2 per pack.
The only good news is that this includes shipping to any USA location, so two bucks is the end of the story (well, don't forget about our $5 minimum order size, please).
These pins are 1/2" long, 3/4" long, or 1" long with a 1/8" diameter head.  All of our escutcheon pins are 16 gauge.

Threaded Trunk Nails

Threaded nails have incredible holding power and are handy if you're nailing on new hardwood slats or anything that goes on the bottom of a trunk (slats, wheels, feet, etc).
These nails tend to stay right where you put them.  Our threaded nails are 1-1/8" long with a flat head.  These are not supposed to be clinched - just for straight nailing.

Brass Plated Screws
Because Sometimes Nails Just Won't Hold Part A to Part B

Not a bad idea to keep a few of these around the shop, just keep them hidden so nobody knows you use the little stinkers.
These are brass-plated steel screws, Phillips, head, #4 screws, 3/8" in length.
Screws - pack of 100:  $5, USA shipping included

Aluminum Binder Posts - 2 Sizes, 3 Finishes

These binder posts can come in handy when clinch nailing or rivets just aren't working out.  By 'not working out' we mean you got mad
after bending thirteen nails the wrong way or pitched your hammer across the barn because it takes 4 hands to set a rivet.
For the short/small ones (silver color):  If the part you're attaching, plus the thickness of the wood it's going through, is somewhere
between 1/4" and 7/16", and there'a a diameter of 3/16" available, just push the fat part of one of these in there,
put the screw in from the other side, and screw them together.  You're done.  They draw down tight and hold well, and if you
want to be sure they don't loosen over time just put a drop of superglue in the threads just before you screw it together.
Please note that the female side is open on the end - you may want this end to be on the inside of the trunk.
Short Aluminum Binder Posts, 1/4" - 7/16" (small)
10 pack for $5.00    100 pack for $25.00    USA shipping included

One-Inch Black or Brass (goldish) binder posts: If the part you're attaching, plus the thickness of the wood it's going through, is somewhere
between 1" and 1-1/4", and there'a a diameter of 3/16" available, just push the fat part of one of these in there,
put the screw in from the other side, and screw them together.  You're done.  They draw down tight and hold well, and if you
want to be sure they don't loosen over time just put a drop of superglue in the threads just before you screw it together.
The post end is rounded/domed and smooth - it looks like a rivet head and nobody will know except you and us and we're not talking.
We use these as center pins through some of the heavier duty trunk handle brackets, and also to attach thick handles to heavy wood trunks.
Black or Brass Color Binder Posts, 1" - 1-1/4" (small)
