OLD STOCK CASE HANDLES
Brettuns Village Trunk Shop
purchased an inventory close-out from a building in NYC that had at one
time been home to a trunk and suitcase manufacturer.
The inventory included several
types of suitcase handles - old stock from the 1930s and 1940s, never been
used, many styles and colors.
These are shown below on
this page. We also sell a variety of leather replacement handles
that can be easily attached to your case or bag. Read on...
So many old suitcases, musical
instrument cases, guitar amplifiers, sewing machine cases, and gladstone
bags have bad handles - they just get worn out over the years.
Here at Brettuns Village
our market analysts decided this was a huge opportunity for us -
so we've tried to corner
the market for replacement suitcase handles. We've sold a few of
these, so it looks like a back-slapping success.
If your old suitcase has
two rings that the handle attached to, and if those rings are spaced anywhere
from 4.5 to 8 inches apart, then you can replace the old handle with one
of the styles we offer here.
All styles are shown in
the colors we have available for sale: tan (undyed), brown, or black.
We don't dye them any other color, but you may choose to dye the tan handles.
Just use leather dye like
the stuff you find at the grocery store on the shoe polish rack.
We have handles that snap
into place, handles that buckle in, and heavy duty handles with spring
steel in them; these also buckle on.
We also have another section of our website that lists other parts for antique and vintage suitcases, valises, instrument cases, gladstones, and other cases and bags.

If the rings or metal bars
are aligned parallel to the long dimension of your case, and if those rings/bars
are between 5 to 6 inches apart (outside dimensions) - in other words,
if they look like this:
- -
Then these are the replacement
handles you need. The straps are 5/8" wide at the point where they
attach to the rings on your case.
Available in tan only.
Priced at $22 each, which includes shipping costs for customers anywhere
in the USA.

Need d-rings on the handle?
We can do that too - see below.
We can attach 1" brass plated
steel d-rings to the handle for you using our steel (brass plated) rivets.
Or, we can just send the parts so that you can assemble it onto your trunk/box/case.
To set the rivets you will
need a splash tool, which splits the ends of the rivets out like flower
petals. We sell these on our Leather Craft site, on the Tools page,
which is here.
