So, one of the owners around this joint is named Churchill, but when he was a kid in Texas his brothers called him Choo Choo - easier to pronounce. Choo Choo, being an aspiring buckaroo, was most proud of his little cowboy boots, and they were about this color, so we named this one Choo Choo's Boots. Got it? USA cattlehide sides running large, all are over 20 sq ft. 6 oz in thickness, but mellow temper, so it's thick but nice and soft. This is a chrome tanned leather, milled to soften it. Gorgeous Sunset-Orangey-Tan-Brown color. We would make bags, vests, chaps, or backpacks out of this one all day long, and probably part of the night too since right now in Maine days only last about 8.2 hours.
Choo-Choo's Boots Sides, all larger than 20 sq ft, $100 each, USA shipping included.
Our NEW Black Oak Crazy Horse is a rustic looking USA cattlehide leather that was chrome tanned and oil finished and waxed on the surface. Sides are large; all are larger than 23 sq ft of total surface area. Thickness is 5.75 to 6 oz, dead on 1/10th of an inch, with a rather firm temper. Great for stand-up bags or rifle scabbards. Bottom line? This is a very outdoorsy leather. Good old Crazy Horse. IMPORTANT NEWS: We have found some quarter hides (single butts, about 15 sq ft each) as we've worked our way through the stack. Single butts are $80; sides are over 23 sq ft and are $125 flat, 48-state shipping included.

This isn't camel leather, OK? It's a color - a shade of tan, called camel. Got it? Great - thanks, because we don't want to get into any of those stale 'one lump or two' jokes. Bug bites, scratches, a few scuff marks from tannery machinery, but over 90% of each hide is fine. Feels thick - at 5 ounce it's thicker than most garment leathers, but it'll work.
