It's hard to find hasps that duplicate the older styles, but these aren't bad. Made from brass or nickel-plated steel, then coated with a protective lacquer finish.
They measure 1 and 1/2 inches wide by 2 and 3/4 inches tall when completely closed. Require 5 nails per hasp to mount to your trunk.

Large Trunk Hasps or Drawbolts

These are pretty big hasps, useful for larger trunks and chests. Each hasp measures about 5 and 1/2" tall, 3" wide overall. Requires a total of 7 nails to attach each hasp. Brass plated steel, heavy duty, built to last.
These are sold by the pair. Price includes postage for USA customers.

1872 HASPS

With a patent date of July, 1872, Taylor Trunk Co came out with this style of hasps and sold them to many, many trunk makers across the USA. The originals were made of steel; these are solid cast brass
and have a locking mechnism that locks/unlocks with the little tab that sticks out from the right side of the hasp.
Sold as a set of two hasps, and they come with screws. Best to use nails on old trunks, but we'll leave that critical decision up to you. You can paint these if you get that kind of urge.

THE MOTHER OF ALL HASPS

These babies are gigantic, made from solid brass, and weigh in at 12 ounces each. A little over 7 inches tall by 3.5 inches wide, requiring a total of 8 nails to attach to your trunk.
These are similar in design to some hasps from the 1880s, with a spring steel piece inside that helps the hasp snap shut.
Very heavy duty but with a nice old look. Giant Hasps are priced at $48.00 per pair, free shipping to any USA location.
Please get out your ruler and check these dimensions against what you want for your trunk. These things are huge - no kidding.

Old Stock Nickel Locking Hasps

These are original 1930s nickel hasps that we purchased as part of an inventory close-out. New old stock, so these will be a little dusty, but are in good condition for their age
and easy to clean up. Made by Nielsen, and each hasp bears the company name. Look right at home on your trunk or case.
These hasps are lockable - you can poke a padlock through the locking ring if you feel the need to do so.
We sell these in pairs. They're very well made, which one would expect from that day and age, measuring about 2.5 inches tall by 1.5 inches wide when closed.

Reproductions of Excelsior Hasps for Auto Trunks

These are modern reproductions of hasps made by Excelsior, commonly used on many old automobile trunks in the early to mid 1900s. These hasps measure about 2" wide by 3.5" tall overall.
Three mounting holes in the bottom, two in the top. Fasteners are NOT included with these. Sold per pair; two keys included with each pair of hasps.

Case Latches
Old Stock from the 1940s, Nickel-Plated Steel

Another great find from an old factory where automobile trunks were made in the 1920s -1940s.
The small latches, when closed, measure 2.5" tall by 1-1/8" wide overall, complete with the top piece. Made by Corbin.
The large case latches, when closed, measure 3-5/16" tall by 1-7/8" wide overall. Spring loaded to draw down nice and tight.

These have brass-plated bottoms and nickel-plated tops, so these are the Tommy Two Tones of the case closure world.
New old stock, so these will be a little grimy, dusty, or otherwise in need of a bath.
Made by Excelsior, and their logo is stamped into the front of the bottom half of each hasp.
They're in good condition for their age and easy to clean up.

Old Stock Nickel Trunk Dowels

These are original 1930s nickel-plated steel dowels that we purchased as part of an inventory close-out. New old stock, so these will be a little grimy, may have some surface rust,
but are in good condition for their age and easy to clean up. Look right at home on your trunk or case. These dowels help to align the lid as it closes.
They're not like hasps - they don't lock shut or anything like that. The top fits in the bottom and that's that. We sell these in pairs.

TRUNK LID DUST BANDING

Steel dust banding is typically used around the bottom edge of the trunk lid, helps to keep dust out of the trunk. It can also be used as strapping to run across the lid or up the front of the trunk.
Heck, it's up to you what you do with it, we just sell it by the foot. This banding is black steel, fairly easy to bend around corners, and is 3/4 of an inch wide.
We have this priced at $1.25 per foot, shipping and handling are included, at least for destinations in the USA. Stock number EB075F.
This is not the same thing as the thin metal that runs up the corners of your trunk - this only is used on the lid or face of most trunks. If you need thin metal to
replace the old stuff on the corners of your trunk we recommend you take a look at roof flashing metal sheet that's available at your local hardware store.
You can get it in brass and sometimes in colors, 4" wide, on rolls, and buy it by the foot.
Again, we DO NOT sell that type of metal for the corners of your trunk. This metal we sell is for the bottom edge of the trunk lid only.
